Fort Collins electronic-folk group Castles scratches our itch for local art-rock achievement. They have plenty of well-executed, out-of-the-way sounds and rarely descend into unnecessary sonic fuckabout. Castles is led by Matthew Sage, who builds tracks on his laptop, mixing natural rock phenomena (drums, guitar and vocals) with often-danceable beats and other tasty synthetic distortions.
